Our week

This week has been all about getting back to "normal"! Ha! We are all finally sleeping through the night..in fact we are oversleeping and looking forward to the time change this weekend!

Travers is doing better and everyone is excited for Halloween. We again are having wonderful weather here in KC and spending lots of time outside.

Travers is also starting to eat again. We grabbed lunch on Monday at our favorite Mexican restruant. See...Travers is almost smiling!

I also had a flat tire this week. We were lucky! The girls and I were leaving Gymboree and our friends station was in the same area so we headed over to see John. As he fixed our tire the girls and I went for a walk!

Izzy found a pine cone!

We also finally made it to tennis! About 10 boys from Travers class are in his tennis lessons. It was great!

Gotta love Izzy's style!!
And finally...our poor pumpkins! We have some really hungry squirrals in our new neighborhood. We have watched the squirrals eat an entire pumpkin and they are starting on the second. We are waiting until tomorrow to buy pumpkins to carve!! Crazy!!

Is it November yet?

Not that I would ever want to wish time away but October has been hard for us!

Everyone is finally on the mend although Travers has had a tough time with his tonsil surgery. I think it's the fact that he is tired and hungry!

Here are a few random photos from the past few days I thought I would share!

And a Halloween preview!

Travers Surgery

The day of surgery started at 6:30 a.m. Travers could have clear liquids until 7:00 a.m. so we woke him up to have a drink.

Dad is not a morning person!
A babysitter came to sit with the girls as Travers, Jean-Paul and I headed to the hospital. Travers was okay prior to surgery. He was so brave and such a good boy! He won every one's heart and made them laugh.

Travers really like showing his tonsils before surgery!

The surgery last about an hour. The Dr. was amazing! She also noticed that Travers voice sounds "raspy" and asked if she could take a look at his vocal cords. We agreed. She also asked if was a screamer....if you know Travers you know we quickly answered..YES! He love to scream. She said that because we do not know his birth history she should take a look. The doctor did find nodules on his vocal cords but said they looked "normal" and were most likely from his screaming. She recommend behavior modification and/or speech therapy for voice retraining. Looks like mom and dad need some work! :)

Anyway....Travers was a model patient after surgery. He took his meds and drank his liquids. We came home and he enjoyed watching his new movies. He ate and drank lots of things last night. Then he went to be.

The night was not so good. The pain woke him shortly after midnight and he would not take his pain medicine. He was crying uncontrollably which was not helping. He finally swallowed about half the medicine and fell asleep from exhaustion.

He woke up in pain. He again would not take the liquid medicine but would take the meltaway Tylenol which seems to be working. He has yet to eat anything today but is drinking so we are happy.

Here are some post-surgery photos and a photo from today! Thanks for all the good energy everyone sent our way!

And today...oh and his nodules!

Isabelle loves to jump!

Here are just a few photos of Isabelle doing what she loves...Jumping!!
(And one stuck in there of her cleaning up!)

What a week!

Where to start?!
First thank you to everyone for their wonderful comments on our Papa. We arrived at Meme's last Sunday. All but one of Jean-Paul's siblings were home. Papa's hospital bed was still at the house...neatly made with his cowboy hat on the pillow.
After putting the kids to bed we all ended up in Papa's room. We shared a bottle of champagne left over from the 50th wedding anniversary a few weeks ago and celebrated Papa's life. We shared stories, laughter and tears. It was really nice.
The rest of the week went okay and the funeral was nice. Travers was really trying to figure it all out. The kids had a great time at Meme's house and loved seeing their cousins.

We returned home late Wednesday night. We were all tired and off schedule so the rest of the week was a blur. I sent Travers back to school on Thursday since he is going to miss most of next week. Travers is having his tonsils and adenoids out.

Not the best photo but you can see why he is having his tonsils out!

The rest of the week we tried to stay low key. The weather continues to be amazing so we spent lots of time outside.

Looking at dad's old toys...GI Joe!

Travers loves to take bubble baths!
